Yesterday was the final day of rehearsals for the show before opening night (which, as I am typing this, is tonight!) so it’s time to break a leg! I couldn’t be more excited to perform with such a talented and lovely cast this week.
It was great to pull everything together last night and performing all our musical numbers with the band was the cherry on top. I absolutely love wearing my costume and portraying the character of Bet in some of the most classic scenes in Oliver!
This is the first time I will be performing in a real theatre. There are six of us in our dressing room, which has lights around the mirrors and a clothes rail for our costumes. It didn’t take us long to clutter the table with hair grips and red lipstick. There is a tannoy speaker in our room which is used by the stage manager to call stage queues and indicate start times. We can also hear what’s happening on stage so we know when we need to be ready for our scenes.
Sadly, the cast will no longer be able to watch each other perform, so seeing the show as a final piece yesterday was really special. With the staging, lighting and costumes it looks fantastic! I’ve got a few more photos from our final rehearsals to share and I guess all that’s left to say for now is bring on tonight! I am so pleased to be part of such a great show and I can’t wait to perform it with the lovely cast!
